Waving sometimes seems a bit like preaching to the choir! So I've adopted a slightly different philosophy : I ALWAYS wave to young kids, I ALWAYS wave to old folks, and I usually wave or at least nod to just about any dog walker, jogger, stroller, etc. With motorcyclists: a nod to all and a wave to fellow riders when its below 35 degrees cause I know we're kindred spirits !! I have to admit that I also wave to a lot of Harley riders to see if I get a wave back! (I generally do).
With my pedestrian waving I'm trying to be a goodwill ambassador for motorcyclists, and offset the loud pipe crowd whom are driving me and a lot of other folks completely nuts !
Ride safe.

Here in the Green Mountains of Vermont, pretty much everybody with a VT plate waves at each other. Cages, motorcycles, doesn't matter. I wave to all vehicles sporting an in-state plate because it takes a special kind of gumption to live in this state year-round. I also wave to all motorcyclists, but drop four fingers down if I don't get a return...

You need to use four fingers to pull the
lever to launch the rear facing heat seeking
missiles? Maybe the cable needs lubrication?
What kind of oil do you use?

As my parents are from Vermont, Stowe, I spent a ton of time in fact
every summer there.
We had some land near Lake Elmore and built a nice A frame cabin. Spent some
great family time with my son, myself and my dad climbing the mountain
in Elmore.
Funny as my dad could remember hunting in some area's as a kid! We
reached the
summit and my dad and son ran to the top of the fire lookout tower, I
started upward
and about the 5th floor puked and slowly went down. BTW, if you are up
there and
take a left directly across from the Elmore store, drive up a bit and
you will see
Douglas Road, named after my dad who owned about 300 acres in that area.
20 years later I was in Boston on business and rented a car to drive up
to Stowe
and while driving along on the freeway, very little traffic I noticed a
car right next
to me and a hand movement, me coming from LA at the time though WTF is this
guy going to shoot me but quickly realized it was a wave!
Someday I will get back up there in the fall as I always wanted to take
photos. You
are lucky to live in what I believe to be one of the most beautiful states!

This isn't the SMLE Owner's Group, but since we're already off-topic....
I almost bought one a few years ago at a gun show as I love my Olde English
No. 4 Mk I.
