Warning: I ramble on a bit. Most of you don't know me, im not all that friendly, so I usually just lurk. I have had a number of bikes through the years. Some have gotten sold, some have gone to pasture, and some I have kept. I still have my first bike, a yellow 1972 HD Rapido that my dad bought new for $505. I was 6 at the time and I still remember when we picked it up (Dad rode it back then, he gave it to me when I was older). The dealer showed us how tough the metalflake helmet was by intentionally dropping it on the floor, when he picked it up and it had a big damaged ring in the color and he said wow I guess I shouldn't have done that. (We left with 2 yellow helmets with reflective checkerboard across the back). I still have my 1983 V45 Magna which ended up being my intro into LD riding, it gave me my first documented 1000 mile day almost 10 years ago. It also was my entry into my one and only rally, Savage Rides GITD in 2000. I also used that bike to introduce a friend into his first 1000 mile day and after I got home I ran up another 500 miles just to make a Bunburner. I have a Springer Softail, bought cheap almost a basketcase. Ressurected from the grave, it sits mostly, patiently waiting for my daughter to ask to ride 2 up, happy for the chance to hit the road but also happy to just rest too, it had a rough life. My main rider is my KLR. Rain, shine, a little snow, interstate to dirt roads. Overloaded and undermaintained, dailey commute to a recent Great lakes challenge attempt. (I failed not the bike). Never let me down but has told me to kiss the dirt a few times when I got greedy. I'm pretty sure that this was the only bike I ever had that went by a name (Brumble) and not just by it's color. A bike I love. I let my head get turned by a WeeStrom. Orange, sleek, twin headlights, twin cylinders, and one cute tailpipe. It comes home with me tomorrow. I think I feel guilty Dan
