True story: A fall 1992 trip to N.Ga's T.W.O. campground on my 1991 CB750 with my then girlfriend following in her car.
We'd stopped to help out two old guys on old Gold Wings repair a flat tire. Once we determined it was a nail
through a tube-type tire and couldn't just plug it, my girlfriend took the rider & his tire into town to get it fixed.
While they were gone, me and the other fellow sat on the roadside & watched car & bikes go by.
It wasn't long before a grizzled rider on a chopped panhead HD rode by. He had a scruffy beard, probably needed a bath
from the looks of things and had a HUGE Confederate battle flag on a broomhandle tied onto the sissy bar of his chopper.
A few minutes later, he rode by again. Being in the middle of nowhere, it struck us as really odd when he came by a third time
in only a short while..... and stopped. The non-DOT helmet dropped to the ground beside his bike, he ambled over, "You fellers okay?"
We told him we were waiting on a tire,etc... when he offered to run into town for "smokes or Cokes". I handed him a $5 bill for something cold to drink
and off he went. The old man asked if I thought that was the last I'd see of my $5?
Maybe.
I felt about 2 inches tall when the scary-looking guy on the chopper came back with a little brown bag with two cold, canned Cokes and my change - refusing
even a buck or two for gas.
