doo installation on 2008 klr

I recently helped a Seattle-area rider install the doohickey into his
2008 ( new ) KLR.
The Kawasaki OEM part in his bike was one-piece, not a weldment like
seen in earlier bikes. Comparing it to the replacement doo (an Eagle
Mike-manufactured part purchased from Arrowhead) I noted that the range
of adjustment that the stock part provided was much less than the
aftermarket part. I also noted that the coil springs provided with the
Eagle Mike kit were a considerable improvement over the stock Kawi
springs. The bike owner had also purchased the torsion spring so we
installed that since it offered a better range of adjustment that either
of the Eagle Mike coil springs.
My conclusion is that even new KLRs should have the doo replaced and
that Arrowhead is still a trusted source for the Eagle Mike doo and
torsion springs.
