I had a new progressive spring "thrown in" when I bought my 99 KLR a few years back.I'm currently changing my chain and sprockets, while I've got my swing arm dropped I thought might as well put the heavier spring on. I have a capable press available. Could use some details on how this process is accomplished. Clymers says take it to the shop, I'd prefer to have a go at it myself. When compressing do I compress from shock clevis to clevis? Is the snap ring the retaining device? I understand this is a loaded device and caution must be exercised. What else. please __________________________________________________________________ Be smarter than spam. See how smart SpamGuard is at giving junk email the boot with the All-new Yahoo! Mail. installing progressive spring
Hello
I had to make two spring compressors to compress the spring. I have lots of experience doing snowmobile springs/and shocks so I was comfortable doing my own spring change.
But I would not on this or any other form tell anyone to do it themselves, if they do not have experience. That spring is under a lot of pressure it would be easy to have a serious accident. For the few bucks it would cost get some one else to do it. Fingers and eyes are hard to replace not to mention the pain
