Hi, all, maybe you all can shed some light on something for me (pun intended) .. I have some of the Old School bulb flashlights. Some of them are pretty good models. I have seen the new LED bulb flashlights, so my question is, "are the LED flashlights that much better?" I gather that the LED's have a better battery life, and can do that blinking thing really well, but the Old School bulbs seem to have a brighter light. LED vs. Old School Bulbs?

I have converted several Mini Maglites to LEDs (a $5 kit) because the LEDs are much brighter than the standard bulb, in addition to lasting longer and giving longer battery life.

Hey Jud, where do you find the upgrades for that cheap? Would you recommend the model you got?
Thanks, I have a few AA Maglites I'd like to upgrade.

The topic of loose KLR subframe bolts reminded me of a 2008 Gold Wing I helped reassemble last week following a pretty hard crash.
Repairs included replacement of 90% of both saddlebags and the subframe that held them, the top box and supplied rear mounts for the mufflers.
In order to get the subframe off, I also had to take loose both rear crash bars - 1 damaged in the crash and one untouched.
For the crash bars and all the subframe bolts (all 8mm ) I was able to use a 1/4in. drive socket wrench. Not one bolt was what could be remotely called tight.
A 10 year old girl could've put them on tighter. The crash didn't do all that. They were never properly tightened from the factory and yet had inspection marks on them.
That's sad, folks. I couldn't help but wonder if it's a result of Honda's decision to move Gold Wing production back to Japan from Ohio,USA or the reason they are moving back to Japan. Either way, that bike wasn't safe, IMHO.
