Where you have varnish-seized pot-metal, a little time in a 200 oven will soften the varnish where a screwdriver might gouge something.> I have an old Seca II which I bought from a guy who'd left it sitting with the petcock on and a full tank of gas for 3 years. A full tank had evaporated down to 1/8 tank of sickly-sweet smelling sludge. The slides were so varnised they had to be pried out with a screwdriver. The needles were also stuck to the sides of the needle jet and some of the internal passages were varnished shut as well. >
