fading away from the mighty klr!

There comes a time in everyone's life, I am sure. This is my time (hear the sobbing as I write). I have traded my trusty companion and friend, "Killer" the A13 - for a, yes it's true, a Buell X1 Lightning... Before you gag me and throw me overboard - realize what I have done for you here, I have proven the mighty KLR650 is worthy of any bike out there, and someone else - not before a KLR owner, agrees! The KLR has been fun, dependable and teaching. I have performed surgery on it for the good of the group (many of you don't know mw, but I have been around for a while, mostly watching from my porch as of late, as you seem to have a handle on things). I may continue to watch and sample the product of KLR IQ's on this forum, maybe not... I don't think there is a better bunch of rider anywhere, much less on a typical egocentric Harley group, who knows?
Keep the rubber side down -
Rev. Chuck

I own the Kawaski sercive manual. (not clymer)
170 +/- 2mm from the top.
It's not an exact science. I filled mine while the forks were installed. so, I had an angle fluid level. I suppose if you want an exact level. Forks off bike, fork compressed, spring out. use a contractors level and level the fork. then fill it. hahaha.. Aw, its a KLR. not NASA rocket : ) hahahahaah.. 170mm from top and you will be just fine. You will enjoy those springs also. I havent heard a complaint yet about them.

I'm convinced the 190 figure was a misprint. Go with
170 as everyone I know that tried it says its better.

Both good ideas.
7.5 inches is 190mm. I am installing proggressive springs.
Which is better, 190 or 170 (6-3/4") ?

Thanks for the reality check Mike.
You're right, it's a KLR, not a rocket.
Time to throw some oil in and wrap it up.
