I yanked the California smog stuff off of my bike, and also the turn signal
relay along with the kick-stand and clutch kill switches.
Anyone interested in this stuff? I can't see why, but it's not doing any
good in my garage.
I'm in Denver, CO and the stuff is off of a 2001 KLR 650.

Wow, a WD40 thread too! Yup, many have logged lifetimes worth of chainlife miles -15k or more with only using WD40. It is solvent like (mineral spirits) along with a light type of oil (can't recall name KRO-oil ??? something like that). Water diplacing (WD) Thus is does leave a nice light film of oil, and the solvent effects do a good job of cleaning. For me it is just part of the regimen, but it does do a good job. I am with you, the best way to use it is to clean after a ride (chain is warm) sucks into nooks and crannies as chain cools, and solvent evaporates off. Ready to go for next ride.
I also like Gunk (the O ring type) and JB bros, Amsoil and Maxima cahin lubes- use in between WD 40 cleanings, but WD40 by itself will work pretty well too.

Anybody know if the kickstand on an 01 is the same as an 08? I do want a
stand that will fit my 08
