It actually does pretty well with several minor modifications. Air cooled and extremely reliable little beast. Cheap money as well. I did have to put a Moose Skid Plate for a KLR 650 on it. Living in Connecticut you always are heading into the "boneyards". I got a jet kit for $20.00 off another user group. I cannot keep up with the big boys on the DRZ400s or KTMs but I can definitely chug through everything they can. I just show up 15 or 20 minutes later. If I want to keep up then I opt for my KDX 200. Too bad I cannot make it street legal here..... PS. If you are tall modify seat by adding a load of additional padding. Otherwise it'll be torture. --- In DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com, Rick McCauley wrote: > > I would love to have an old (70's) XL350. I had one at the same time a buddy of mine had the newer (85 I think) XR350R. His was faster and had twice the suspension, but when it came to climbing, that old 350 was the one to have. You had to keep the new one screaming, or it would start clattering and dropping rpm's. The old one was a tractor in comparison. > > Rick > A17 > > --- On Tue, 4/14/09, Jud Jones wrote: > > From: Jud Jones > Subject: [DSN_KLR650] Re: KLR 250 service manual > To: DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com > Date: Tuesday, April 14, 2009, 7:04 PM > > > > > > > > > --- In DSN_KLR650@yahoogro ups.com, "roncriswell@ ..." wrote: > > > > I have been considering buying the new KLX 250. Mark Sampson recently took one on a border ride in AZ and NM and raved about how it performed. It is a bit spendy, around $6k. I think the KLX250 is quite a bit cheaper. I have read some reports from big guys (a lot bigger than you) on that bike, and haven't heard any complaints. There is a lot of hot-rod stuff for it, not surprising, since it is derived from the 300 enduro bike. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] > [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

play bikes nklr: was klr 250 service manual
I think there are alot of 250's out there that a guy could pick up cheap if you are just going to use it to beat around the woods. I think it is justifyable, but the wife thinks otherwise. She is the banker in our family, and she has kept us going pretty good considering the whole economy thing. I think I will just wait a while.
