My engine seems to like 87 octane, so why spend $$? As for synthetic, after break in, I used it for about 7K miles. I prefer a good 20w50 synth. But the logic of synthetic flies out the window, along with alot of cash, when you are using 1 quart every 500 miles. With that kind of consumption, I'll stick with Rotella dino.
