If you need a replacement check with a V-Twin shop for the slide and diaphragm from an 883 Sportster. I have checked you FAQs and didn't see any mention of the quietest exhaust, though it was mentioned that some where quieter and some where louder. So I will ask here, what are some of the after market mufflers that are quiet? I typically ride the State Forest roads and back roads of North Central PA. I enjoy seeing wildlife and photography. I have noticed that I seemed to spook wildlife quicker now that my bike is older, 2001. It doesn't really seem that loud, but maybe their is something happening that I can't hear and the wildlife can. Please mention if the recommended back tire has any "too close to the rear tire" issues.

There was a sound level test done on several different exausts a few years ago and the Laser Pro Duro Approved model came out as more quiet than the stock exhaust. Everything else was louder than the OEM muffler. At this test, the Laser Pro Duro sounded like it had a deeper sound but actually measured quieter. I have installed several of these exhausts and have never had an interference problem with the tire. I have heard of others that have but I believe it is all in the way these are mounted. Since the intermediate pipe can slide forward and rearward and also rotate, there are many wrong ways to install it and only one right way. Fred www.arrowheadmotorsports.com

No idea why you would want any quieter or better than a stock exhaust on a KLR. The stock pipe is very durable and quiet. Save your money and buy a rear shock or spring. Criswell
