review of one crazy ride dvd

Post by Jeff Saline » Mon Mar 30, 2009 8:57 pm

Heads, OK Heads, Listers, Udder Readers, In January I received an e-mail from Dirt Track Productions announcing the upcoming release of, and the opportunity to purchase a copy of, their latest DVD, One Crazy Ride. These are the same folks that, a few years ago produced, Riding Solo to the Top of the World. I immediately ordered a copy of One Crazy Ride with the expectation it would equal or surpass Riding Solo to the Top of the World. I was not disappointed. Both DVDs are well worth getting and watching. Maybe watching again and again. Today it's late March and I'm inside with a blizzard carrying on in this part of the country. The timing of delivery was good as I only received the DVD last Friday on 27 March. It was sent from India on 25 February and it looks like customs took their time clearing it. It was worth the wait. A few years ago my Riding Solo DVD was delayed in delivery too. But that again was the delivery system and not Dirt Track Productions. In both cases I contacted them and received prompt courteous replies and a willingness to quickly dispatch a replacement copy to me. In each case the original DVD showed within a day of making arrangements for the replacement so I was able to cancel the need. One Crazy Ride has very well timed subtitles which I found helpful through most of the film. This film is more about the ride than Riding Solo which was more about the journey, people and cultures encountered along the way. Five friends, four men and one women, all belonging to the same motorcycle club decide to ride across uncharted roads in the Himalayan state of Arunachal Pradesh which is in Northeast India. They encounter mechanical issues, tribal villages, military outposts, raging rivers, dry river beds full of rocks, mud, rutted tracks and other special obstacles. Personal challenges abound as riders push their personal limits and expectations. This is a ride on road bikes, not dual-sport bikes and they are small displacement and overloaded in all cases. The film is an award winning documentary and captures the nature of the ride and a wonderful area most of mankind will never experience in person. It is well worth taking the time to purchase for your motorcycling library and enjoying with family and friends. I think even people not enthralled with motorcycle travel will find this worth their time as they experience One Crazy Ride. [dsn_klr650] kickstarter

Post by Rick McCauley » Wed Apr 01, 2009 3:59 pm

A lot of batteries indeed. I'll pass on that. If I have a problem, I will run, hop, and dump the clutch. Won't be the first time. Rick A17

The individual parts used to still be available but have become Very expensive. The last I checked the parts totaled around $1000. That would buy a lot of batteries. I guess you can look at changeing the clutch to what is in the 600. But I would leave well enough alone. just park on a hill : ) haha. Sorry bud, all my research has shown the same results. not possible for a part swap. ----- Forwarded Message ---- From: Rick McCauley To: dsn_klr650@yahoogro ups.com Sent: Wednesday, April 1, 2009 9:41:23 AM Subject: [DSN_KLR650] Kickstarter I guess I am tired of depending on batteries. Does anyone no what parts are needed, and the part numbers to add a kickstarter to my 2003 KLR Rick A17 [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
