We took the clutch switch apart and cleaned the contacts but it did nnot make a difference. Not sure where the nuetral switch is. There does not appear to be a sidestand switch. carb jetting
The KLX needle is part number 16009-1794 (Jet, Needle N1TB). You will
likely need to go DOWN a main jet or two with this needle since the KLX
needle is very rich, especially at the top end. I would not suggest using
the KLX needle with the mods you have done. I'd just shim the stock needle
.020 and not bother with having to swap main jets.
Jesse has been doing this exhaust mod for years on the Suzuki DR series. I
suggested that he modify the KLR exhaust and sent him one to experiment
with. I have been happy with it. It does sound deeper, not louder. I
don't know if it really flows better but it does cure the tweet..

I'm getting ready for spring riding and have some questions about carb
jetting, as that is a subject I know very little about.
I have removed the airbox snorkel, switched to a Twin-Air filter that seems
to flow more than stock judging by my highly calibrated seat of the pants
feel
, and now the exhaust will be a bit more free flowing due to the
KienTech exhaust mod.
What Jesse will be doing is curing the Tweety once and for all and opening
up the outlet of the stock muffler while putting an extension with a
down-turn to keep rain out while parked. He tells me that the muffler will
be as quiet as a stock unit, but the tone will be a bit deeper and it should
flow better. He and I talked about rejetting, and he thought that I may
have to go up one jet size, or shim the needle with 1 washer.
It has been suggested to me that I switch to a KLX needle. Does anyone have
a part number on the needle? Also, since I'm going to be in the carb for a
thorough cleaning, is there a kit with all the o-rings and other
consumables, or is that really not needed yet. The bike has 11,640 miles on
it.
