fuel petcock....mod?

Post by Ken » Sat Feb 21, 2009 11:09 am

Hi, On the way to DVDaze, the vacuum line to the fuel shut-off collapsed and left me stuck. (of course it was raining and cold). My buddy Robert and I limped into a fire station where they let us work on the bike out of the rain, and we quickly found the problem. Is there a mod worth doing or should I just find a better vacuum line? Thanks in advance! Ken

Dr. Krok makes a fit that eliminated the vacuum portion of the petcock. You have to remember to turn the fuel off at night, but it's not a big deal. After you see all the parts and potential failure points inside the petcock, I'm willing to bet you'll be happy you made the change. Ross Lindberg Fertile, MN

My vacuum petcock has worked flawlessly for 45,000 miles. I did replace a perished vacuum hose somewhere along the way.

<><><><><><> <><><><><><> Chris, Just a wild long distance guess but maybe the ground is not so good. I'd probably be checking all the connections up around the headstock and then also around the coil. Good luck with your issue.
