My younger brothers are CHP and the only thing they are looking for is unsafe riding. i.e. bad lane changes, unsafe speed etc... SO be on your toes and be safe. Lane splitting is legal but cagers don't like it, so much so that when the issue comes up on the printed news sites cagers post comments like "it's not fair" or "if I see a lane splitter I'm going to close the gap" Or "I'll just swerve into there space a little" So be carful if these knuckle heads are willing to commit Premeditated Vehicular Manslaughter no telling what they'll do.> > There is no law about lane splitting in California .... never has > been. In fact if the lane was wide enough a car could to it. > From CHP website .... " Lane splitting by motorcycles is permissible > but must be done in a safe and prudent manner." > > It all about being safe, i.e. not reckless driving > > Just my 2 cents.
