I'm planning a ride to California on Saturday. Can anyone detail the
"rules" and etc. for lane-splitting? (Never done it!)
Thanks,

There is also a 'safety' factor, i.e. you must do it 'safely'. It is pretty common here, especially on the Freeways when they slow down (read crawl) or at stoplights. Many split the lanes at red lights to get to the front - then accelerate ahead of the cagers. I only do it occasionally, usually during a traffic backup. I'm also paranoid some jerk will slam open his door or something (although I've never really heard of that).
