klr and the wind

My A19 got blowed over by the wind twice last night while I was at work. I guess I need outriggers for windy day parking. Tom SW Pennsylvania

Two suggestions, first is to cut a peice of 2X4 to fit from the frame to the ground on the right side to keep the bike leaned over. The second wold be to turn the bike around so that the wind is push8ing it harder onto the sidestand. -- Bill Lewis Roanoke, Virginia Professor of Motorcycleology 2004 R1150RT 1990 R100RT 2002 KLR 1978 Oldwing w/Friendship 1

Most of the miles I put on this bike have been on Gripsters. I also seldom thought I wish I had different tires when on not too technical, hard pack, rocky or muddy trails. I even kept up fairly well with people with more aggressive tires. On gravel I found myself going slower than others. You also get used to whatever you re ridding on. When I mounted Kenda 270s I was amazed how much better it felt to travel off pavement. On pavement, the front felt too squirrelly, especially over rain grooves. The Kenda rear/Gripster front is a good compromise for me. For a long pavement trip, I plan to remove the Kenda and I ll throw on a Gripster rear. Maybe throw on is not the best choice of words; they are a bear to mount. ( quite a picture that ) Bogdan [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
