klr tires in south texas

I'm currently scurrying across the southern tier in surprisingly chill temperatures (saw frost in Florida, fifty degree blowing fog along the Gulf today). I'm heading for Mexico, and my need for a new back tire is getting pressing, though not yet desperate--it's a Pirelli Scorpion with abotu 13k miles on it. In Louisiana, the parts clerks at two different motorcycle supply houses didn't admit to knowing the term "dual sport." Neither did they seem to know what a KLR is (one asked "Is that a motorcycle?"). So I'm now looking for tires in Corpus Christi, Brownsville, Galveston or someplace along the way. Any recommendations for me? This trip seems to involve a lot of pavement, and I've been using 80/20 tires without substantial complaint, but I'd just as happily take a more dirt-oriented tire. I'm happy to pay the price--whatever price--but would sure prefer not to have to special order and wait. I could also buy used if anyone's got one hanging around gather dust in the garage. Thanks for any direction or ideas. Guanajuato beckons! Mark

Listers and Losters: A dominatrix ironically named Moly, found lubrication to be such folly, yet she'd never lecture about her "chain stretcher", now get back on yer bikes by golly. Sorry....cosmo

Mark, The only bike I can think of that uses the 130/80 x 17 tire size is the BMW F650. So if you can't find a Kawasaki dealer, a BMW dealer may be able to help lighten your wallet. HTH, Mike Martin, Louisville, KY [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
