Rust-protect the chain (and condition the O-rings) with 80 weight gear oil, WD-40, Dexron III ATF, Scottoil, chain wax, chain lube, or silicone spray lubricant (amongst other things that I've seen used and work, for some definition of "work"). What, you want us to choose one of each for you? Sheesh!

This will eventually go into a discussion about how to care of the new chain, which will lead to again which is best oil for chain, which someone will morph into which oil is best for the bike and after a week it will lend itself into which personal lubricant tastes the best, and BTW WD-40 does not taste good, don't ask!

Fertile....interesting name. In my experience, the quickest to wear out is the front sprocket. Especially if it s an after market item. I seem to remember my original front, of course a Kawi part lasted longer. Last change I went with the Kawi item even though it cost more. Guess I ll see if it gets more life. I believe all brand name O-ring chains are about the same, at least on a klr. I went with the cheapest. Bogdan [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
