Please excuse my starting a second thread on the same post (subject)
Yahoo would not allow me to reply to the previous thread. That
said........
Since someone asked, my 03 KLR has 15K. All road miles except for
some light gravel roads. No surges of any type.
I checked the chain carefully as someone suggested, and it looks
good. No missing or broken parts. I used a mirror to eyeball the
inside of the chain. The teeth on both sprockets (front and rear)
are a tad worn but still rideable. IMHO.
And, like I wrote, the chain squeak has never happened before and it
stopped as soon as I re-lubed the chain. I am going to swing by the
local stealership and see if they will eyeball the chain for me, just
to be sure. I am not a mechanic and want to make sure that I did not
miss anything.
My guess is that I rode for so long that the chain lube burned off.
I THANK YOU ALL for you info and insights! Man I love this group,
great place to get KLR info, political commentaries, and info on ass-
less chaps. Well, gotta go ride some more, it is a balmy 67 degrees
(above) and humid here in New Orleans. Man, its cold, but I can
handle it. Eat your hearts out you inhabitants of snowbound places.
Again, THANKS!
