A while back I mentioned in this group that I was designing a rack for my KLR to carry my mountain bike to the trails. I finally got around to posting pictures: http://www.standoutnet.com/extras/mike/motorcycles/klr650/bikerack/index.htm l I've been using it since mid-Summer and so far it has exceeded my expectations. Mike, that is very, very clever. Thanks for sharing. What does it look like if you take the bike for a dirt nap on the starboard side? |8~0 revmaaatin.

Nifty solution to the bike carrying problem. Nice to see imagination at work, especially a different approach (carrying the bike vertically instead of the more "normal" fork-mount inclination). Stephen

Dude! thats awesome! i've been wanting to do that myself. as an avid mountain biker i ride alot and my closest trail is about 25 miles away which is fairly costly driving my truck. do you have any written plans with dimensions and angles? or did you just fit and weld? honestly that is one of the best designs i have seen. klrdar --- In DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com, "Michael Silverstein" wrote:

Thanks for the complements. No plans. Just a lot of sitting in my garage and staring at the bike until the right cut came to mind. I doubt if I'd ever be able to reproduce it the same way again. My next project will be a tubular "roof rack" over the rear of the seat and stock rack to easily stow my riding gear. Lesson learned: a grinder and black paint will mostly mask crappy looking welds. Very clever. Not that I would worry about it, but, in the event of an accident, hopefully the rack and bicycle would not become entangled with the rider. Happy Thanksgiving to All. Alan
