Yes... I forgot about Mr. Saline .. So.. let me give you a run down as to why I was looking for a way to heat up my block,in particular the oil ( I thought about the coolant first) : oil and filter change about 20 days ago, nice warm days, Valvoline 20-50( don't ask!!)Lucas oil treatment, half a bottle, ( yeah..I know.. don't want to hear about it ) and just a tad of Sea Foam ( same thing ... shut up ..) then the bottom fell out ..cold.. upper teens ,low twenties.. going to work 5:00am,fully charged battery, choke, crank, crank, crank, feeble attent to start, " light bulb"---> oil is too thick---> too cold----->what can you do?? HEY ..here is a thought ..keep your engine block warm overnight.. DUH.. ** REV** --> I used a grinder to get to the bare ALUMINUM, where magnets stick in peoples dreams.. *** Jeff ** ---> JB Weld good to 4-500 degrees according to label?? Anyways, I'll see what gives when everything dries up, and I I plug it up .

SNIP <><><><><><> <><><> <><><><><><> <><><> Martin, On this side of the state we'd probably just turn the heater on for a bit instead of looking for the heat lamp. : ) In Jan 2001 I had a good talk with a tech from the company about JB Weld/Kwik. I was testing it to seal a discontinuity in the base of an airhead cylinder. I asked about using it in a location that would see lots of heat cycles. The tech told me it would fail. When I asked how bad he said "catastrophic failure". The next day it failed in only maybe two uses. Based on his suggestion I ended up using High Temperature RTV and it's been in place for 7 years. anti-freeze question

About a month ago I drained my fluids and replaced the anti-freeze with "Valucraft" antifreeze & coolant. It contains ethlylene glycol (107-21-1), diethlene glycol (111-46-6), water (7732-18-5), corrosion inhibitors (proprietary). I talked to a couple people that ride other cycles besides KLRs and they said it would not cause problems (corrosion) in my KLR. But, I thought I would bounce this off the group and see if it's OK or if I need to flush this stuff and get something else in my 05 KLR. Mike, Did the label use the words, "Made for aluminum radiators and blocks" or words to that effect? You have an aluminum block and radiator.... revmaaatin.
