Luc, I think you are really on to something here. Tell us again, exactly, what the heater element is from--a bong? incensed burner?

Gee Rev... You almost make me feel important... I cannot give any feed back yet on how this works, because the temperatures being below freezing, the JB weld is still trying to harden, I,being a poor Hillbilly,can't afford a heated garage,like some folks up north... What is a " lever protector " ??

Luc, Put a trouble light on the JB Weld and it will cure faster--just not close enough to melt the tape. JB quick is also a good item for a faster bond. Just curious, what did you prep the surface with, ie, lacquer thinner? Lever protectors = bark busters, Acerbis hand guards and others. Buy them once, save your levers [maybe] for life. I've dropped a lot, bone breaking drops, a lot more than I ever thought reasonable, this summer--once a day for the first week during the Great Divide Ride, and several times on one day--and I have yet to bend a lever or destroy a OEM hand guard that is now bolted to an aluminum lever protector. http://www.angelfire.com/ut/moab/parts_frames.html Hillbilly's occur in los of places--and living up nort'h is not necessarily a license for heated garages or a prohibition for hillbillies. I was testing it to seal a discontinuity in the base of an airhead cylinder. I asked about using it in a location that would see lots of heat cycles. The tech told me it would fail. When I asked how bad he said "catastrophic failure". The next day it failed in only maybe two uses. Based on his suggestion I ended up using High Temperature RTV and it's been in place for 7 years. Has your KLR been de-tweetified?? da Vermonster a tambourine sound is most likely metal to metal looseness. Most common area for this is in the stock exhaust. Could be an aftermarket skid plate vibrating as well... Hard to tell. Where are you? Any KLR riders near you?
