Several people on the Moto Mutz trip have worked the Chepe into their Copper Canyon tour. El Fuerte is the destination meeting place, although you can go all the way to Los Mochis on the Gulf if you want to.

I just read a book called God's Middle Finger. It was about the dangers in the Sierra Madre. It has always been sort of a lawless area of Mexico but has gotten worse over the last few years. The train has been stopped and robbed not too long ago. The drug business is rampant in that area. I went down there about 4 years ago and while I always enjoy going to Mexico ...... I probably wouldn't go in that part or north toward Juarez or east in the Laredo, Reynosa or Matamoros area .... at this time. Tijuana Likewise. Plus I just like the Grand Canyon country and north toward Zion, Lake Powell and Moab better. Thats just me. Great book .... God's Middle Finger. The Tarahumara Indians are amazing in their ability in long distance running even stopping for a beer and a smoke while competing with some of the best in the world (as claimed in the book). The ending is pretty scary. The author wrote about his exploration of the area. Criswell

Kevin, thanks for sharing the Copper Canyon train ride pictures. What is the cost of the train ride? Where does it start from? Mike H.

There are a few towns, esp over by Sinforosa, but elsewhere as well, where the locals just suggest you keep moving rather than stop in their town. They are growing a lot of weed down there. The army is always moving around; when they are in town, some guys seem to make themselves scarce.

I got an email from a member asking me to join "Grouply". Here is the information I got about Grouply from a internet search. It is from a moderator of another group: "There are a few new services coming online which are social "networking" sites similar to My Space and Facebook. One of these new services is called "Grouply". Grouply is tapping Yahoo lists and reposting the messages to Grouply members. As soon as ONE list member joins this service, all of our messages will then be archived by Grouply. Grouply changes your email address to (yourname)@grouply. com. for the purpose of your Yahoo list mail only. They will also go into your Yahoo account and change all of your preferences regarding how you view your mail, whether you get individual posts or digests, and whether you can be directly added to any of a million other Yahoo groups. In order to do this, Grouply requires that you give them your Yahoo ID and password. I am truly hoping that most of our members are smart enough not to hand over that information to ANYONE--especially to another web service! There is no guarantee that this information that Grouply is aggregating is secure, thus leaving your sign-in info available to spammers and hackers--including all of our list files and photos. At this point, there is no way for us to block Grouply's access to our list (although that is being worked on). Until there is, I will be checking daily for list members who may have innocently joined Grouply.
