Thanks. ------------------ I just started using the 17, so the answer would be no. In that 34K miles that the factory chain (106 link) lasted, that was with the stock rear sprocket (43T) at all times. 2,000 mi with a 14T, 1,000 mi with a 15T, and 31K with 16T sprockets; first 16T lasted 15K (flipped it at 7500 mi), 2nd 16T lasted 15K (flipped it at 7500) and was on third 16T when the article was written at 34K miles. Still was using the third 16T at 38K when I just went to the first 17T a few weeks ago. Hope this helps. big bore cylinder question.

Post by scrap_pile101 » Thu Nov 06, 2008 1:16 pm

I'd like to get a 685 kit, and I know I need a 96 or later cylinder. I already had a 92 cyl and I found a 2000 cyl on flea-bay. I just received the newer cyl and it doesn't measure any thicker (the liner) than the 92 cyl. Is there a measurement that I can check for to make sure this is really a good cyl for the larger bore kit, or is the difference inside the casting? I'm not trying to doubt the information from the seller on ebay. They only know it was pulled from a 2000 bike and that's all they can vouch for. I know this would be an easy one for Cary - another reason we miss you, dude! Thanks for any and all help Scott
