Call me a geek, call me un cool, call me what you want but I mounted a Whitehorse engine guard with the highway pegs on it and thay are awsum. I had forgotten how nice it fealt to change possition periodicaly. I put on the aluminum bash plate too but I dont think it is on right. Doesnt really seem to fit like the instructions say. Anybody else got this combo on an 08? Got any pictures of it handy? By the way, I have a tendancy to smash the bottom side down on things which is why I put the aluminum plate on it. I scraped the plastic one up already topping a set of stairs in my company's parking lot. Damm concrete cuts hard. I dont know how the pre 08 is but the 08 makes a lot of noise when you do that, it scared the hell out of me!

Chris, Glad the forward position works well for you. Also, try resting your feet on the rear foot-pegs. Mine are there 90% of the road miles-- the other 90% I am standing on the foot pegs. (Yeah, I know, 90+90 does not equal 100. --I was using current political math, cough). Now, as for all that noise as you scrape the metal skidplate--try revving the motor higher, more forward speed when attacking concrete baricades, and using a better quality ear plug. Gar-o-tee, less scraping noise be heard.... You truly have discovered/validated the difference between farkle and necessity [the metal skid plate for you] that applies to your riding style! revmaaatin.
