The local BMW place has 2 F800GS bikes. I went and rode their demo bike yesterday. It weighs only a little bit more that the KLR, same riding position, has tons more power at all RPMs. Awesome suspension, great brakes. I think it is *the* adventure tourer. Oh, and its about $13K. :-( Eric

Yeah but did you drop test it? :) A courtesy warning: Keep your head low...the KLR milista is defiantly firing verbal bullets at anything/one not discussing or otherwise teaching them something extremely useful about their KLR. We're not quite sure if it's teething or the [election] rutting season. [sigh]...the price we pay for such a well-honed brain trust.

You mean the de-tuned F800GS with a wimpy suspension? Why bother! "Oh, and its about $13K :-(" That translates into 2 and one half KLR's. Less money more fun and less maintenance..
