Tumu,
If you had fuel flowing into the carb when the bike is not running,
it is the diaphragm that failed, regardless that you could not move
the fuel tap to the off-position. That is why there is a diaphragm,
as well as a on-off position so that fuel cannot flow except when
there is a vaccum present...as I understand it. shrug.
An odd little note on the rebuild kit; the OEM o-ring between the
petcock and the tank is an oval--fitting an oval trough. The
replacement is round, and fills the oval petcock receiver just fine.
