I rode my K270 front til the knobbs were little pyramids. They hold the
road just fine. No problem dragging the pegs. Kinda noisy though. This
is a great tire for the price. (emphasis on, for the price).

Are you an AMA member? As the main national motorcyclist
organization, they try to work changes through the state and federal
systems. With 290,000 members it would seem like they'd have some
clout...until you realize the AARP has a membership of 35,000,000 or
so.
Motorcycling is a minority pursuit, only a minority of us join the
AMA, and only a minority of members do anything but pay their dues
and read the magazine. Have you written to a legislator lately?
Visited their office? On the other hand, we'll all get old and most
of us will join AARP to take advantage of their clout when we need
it.
Splitting lanes is risky business. You have a choice of doing it or
not. Accept the risk or accept the delay. If you try to get
government involved in it I can guarantee you won't like the outcome.
The AMA isn't perfect, but unless you want to start your own
organization, quit whining and use what you have to its best
advantage.

It's hard to argue we deserve more. I'd be happy keeping what we
have at least in terms of places to ride. More and more $hit gets
closed each year or doesn't get maintained. I used to ride a lot
more remote desert and now you'll find a 12-ft deep washout that the
county refuses to repair. Worse it posts 'no trespassing' signs and
give adventure riders or off-roaders trouble for rebuilding a cheap,
temporary 'solution.' Gratis, I might add! I've spent days
rebuilding roads in many foreign countries--even building bridges--
just to get through. Locals thank you. Here we prosecute you.
As for lane-sharing in CA...I love it. It should be nationwide.
Yeah, there are risks but sitting in traffic wasting time and energy
is a loss (only risk is getting crushed). To each his own here.
Actually, last time I lane shared in CA people actually did move over
a bit to let motos have more space...humans acting humanly?
Brilliant!
Deserve means we never had but should. I'm of the mind this
government has systematically removed freedoms and choice to the
point that what we deserve turns out to be freedom removed. We once
had it. Of course, you need laws to help keep things civilized and
running smoothly. But forget any kind of commonsense rules/regs that
prevent our financial markets from collapsing like our government
suggests. Let the taxpayer mop that up. What a bunch of fear
mongers. This place is a mess, so just put on your goggles and ride.
Bottom-line is lead by example. If you focus on the future and
consume responsibly, it's unlikely we'd need any rules. Those that
over-indulge and feel they deserve everything are misguided.
Unfortunately, we stupify our nation by building everything 'idiot-
proof' and then spend the next 10 years building better idiots.

I'm just afraid they will try to get senile motorcyclists off the road. BTW, where is Tree
Hugging, CA? North or south of Tehachapi?
