Listers, Martin arrived at my place on Sunday evening a few minutes before dark. I test rode his bike that evening and we discussed replacing or not his clutch. On Monday morning while I was working Martin got out the pressure washer and cleaned his bike. He was close to done when I got home at about 9:45. He changed the clutch based on a few indicators plus the fact that he bought it whether he needed it or not. It was well worth the change based on his response after riding it this afternoon. We also replaced leaking fork seals and both learned a bit more about Race Tech Gold Cartridge Emulators. This afternoon we finished with repairs and he departed for home at about 4:20. His bike is loaded like a rented mule and he should be home to his family in about 4 hours. Martin has some pretty wild stories from the action along the GDR. I suspect he'll be easing back on the list in a few days. Jeff - Glad to hear Rev is enjoying himself and can get his mule serviced. His presence on the board is missed. And that's very kind of you to help him along his adventure. So what have you learned about Gold Tech c-emulators? The stock forks works 'ok' but beyond progressive springs it'd be hard to convince me that lipstick on a pig changes much. Of course the KLR is cheaper and it gets me everywhere I go, so no complaints...just new seals and fork oil here.

With emulators, Cogent Dynamics springs, correct oil at the correct level and a Cogent Dynamics Moab shock built just for you, you'll want to French Kiss that pig. Michael -- "Tragedy is when I cut my finger. Comedy is when you fall into an open manhole and die." -- Mel Brooks San Francisco, CA

Sorry, I didn't hear what you just said. I'm enjoying a tasty pork chop and it's hard to hear over the chomping. ;) The stock forks help keep the KLR inexpensive. I'd like to try the emulators but damping isn't my first concern. Personally, my favorite are the KTM 990 inverted forks. Damn these ride plush and can take a beating. It makes the KLR seem like a jack hammer running miles of washboard.

My KLR left "inexpensive" far behind several thousand dollars worth of farkling ago. It's pretty much not a KLR any more. I like it much better now than when it was one. -- "Tragedy is when I cut my finger. Comedy is when you fall into an open manhole and die." -- Mel Brooks San Francisco, CA
