Posted pictures (Album: Great Weekend) from last weekend trip with my Brother Craig, up Hwy 108, from Oakdale California. Just a few you might be interested in, especially if you live anywhere in the area. In this general area alone, miles and miles and miles of forest roads through beautiful country, that we have just begun to explore. Next two trips planned: 1--back to fish at Relief Reservoir, explore the Clarks Fork, Beardsley and Donnell Lake areas, and Leavitts Lake just a few miles over Sonora Pass (where our Dad used to take us fishing over 50 years ago). 2---Pavement and fish trip; back up Hwy 108, over Sonora Pass, Bridgeport, to Saddlebag Lake, over to and through Yosemite, and back home (only 100 miles from home as we leave Yosemite).
The Juniper in the pictures (Bennett Juniper) is quite interesting. 22 ft dia at base, 86 ft tall (I think), largest known in Western Hemisphere, possibly the world, certified min 2000 years old, widely believed to be 4000-6000 years old, caretaker lives there with his wife in a large tent except during snow season. Interested in more info; just search online Bennett Juniper.
