leaky petcock

I have put a conversion kit on my petcock which converts it to a non vacuum tap. Simplification is the goal and I don't mind dealing with turning it on and off. But, both before and after the conversion, a small dribble of fuel comes out the tap when it is in the off position. I plan on replacing two parts, the o ring that goes around the on off tap and the "packing" that goes in the valve. Will this fix it?
