Stay or Go? I have to decide today if I will leave New Orelans. I
live in the Mid City area (Canal at Carrolltion) of the city. I am.
about 5-8 ft. below sea leval. The last time out via KLR will be
about 5 AM on Monday, about 20 hours prior Gustav hitting as close as
it will to New Orleans. I should know more by the 1 PM advisory, and
know the final by the 10 PM news.
I have not packed my Pelicans yet, that will take all of 5 mins. I
have done all that I can to prepare except that just prior to leaving,
I need to dump all the food out of the fridge. Food rotting in
semi-tropical heat sealed in a metal box smells really bad after a few
weeks. Gas for the KLR? D'oh, I forgot that :}
His Honor the Mayor is calling this the "Storm of the Century",
another TV station is telling us that it might not be quite that bad.
They are saying that Gustav will come in as a Cat. 3-4. Yeah, I did
the high water mod, silly question, I won't see any water if all goes
according to plans.
I'll do a last post, if I can, just prior to bailing out. Where am I
heading to, beats me.

Eddie,
I wish I could offer you a place to stay but I am too far and it's too
crowded here in NW Florida but if you don't act SOON and get out while you
can, you'll end up in gridlock and might ride out the storm sitting on or by
your bike and that might not be much fun at all!
Get the hell out and don't look back. Run for it.
Save your butt.... Storm of the century or not, Gustav is a ferocious storm
and NOLA is going to be on the strong side of it.
Get out! Go! Ride northeast to the Atlanta area or Birmingham or somewhere
like that. Don't you have relatives or friends to the NE of you?
If you don't have the money to stay in a motel, then use campgrounds and
show them your ID that you're a NOLA "escapee" and I bet they give you a
free stay.
GO!!!

You are welcome to stay here in Carrollton TX~! I ain't doing much this week! Of course the mayor is saying that trying to save his ass again! I am surprised that the exit has not started a few days ago, better safe than sorry! That would truly suck if the same area got hit at all again as from what I was hearing this week on the news they have not finished getting levees fixed up, etc. stuff takes time I guess! Don't believe the weathermen as they are basically guys's that could not get other degrees in college, or attend any good parties! Probably want to get more gas as probably going to be in short supply on the route out of the area but the basic KLR fillup should get you far enough away!> > Stay or Go? MAN !!!
Just what we need more bad news...... Are we interested because it is close to home ? Is it something that will sell ? I say Yes !! . What about the same issues in the " Golden Triangle " Do we care ? No..too far.. are people still dying ? Yes.
How many dead in Illegal Land ? That's that many less that won't cross the border with drugs filled condoms up their butts and stomach.
Any issues ? I've got a "Cuerno de Chiva " that's just waiting for action.
