For all you folks who thought my title was " Ride Like Hades " shame on you !! My 2005 rides like " Heaven " ( the other place..I hope ) I am proud to say that I get 58 GPM ...or is it 58 MPG ?? Yeah 58 Miles Per Gallons . KLN Hi Flow filter,Lucas Oil Thing,Sea foam every other tank, 210 lbs, 5'11, 16 front sprocket,43 rear,crusing at 75 EVERY DAY. Darn I am good.......... Listers A few months back,my 87 KLR developed a coolant leak .In the beginning ,it was small and just necessitated monitoring ,there was no oil in the coolant and no water in the oil,but,with time the leak became larger and I noticed some fluid coming out of the back of the motorcycle ,I traced the leak to overflow of the expansion tank: I cleaned all the lines,checked the radiator and the water pump,all were good but I still had a leak. The only thing that came in mind after an extensive research was that the head gasket was leaking exhaust into the coolant system ,pressurizing it ,pushing all the coolant out of the pressure relief valve of radiator cap to the expansion tank. I decided to open up the head ,changed the gasket (also replaced the doohickey since I was at it) ,buttoned everything up and now the old bike is running way better and does not leak coolant anymore. PS : the doo was not broken but the it had a lot of play around the shaft and the spring had no tension whatsoever so the balancer chain was loose.
