[spam][dsn_klr650] surge or coughing

Post by Bogdan Swider » Tue Aug 19, 2008 2:25 pm

I ve heard of people solving the problem by removing the fuel filter. But......Monte, my bike exhibited similar symptoms a few years ago. I tried a variety of solutions-petcock, carb on and on to no avail. The missing caused me to cancel a trip to Mexico. It only happened on clear hot days after 30 miles or so of riding on pavement-never on dirt or gravel, I live at 6000 feet and the sun is very strong. I can t prove it but what I think cured the problem was installing the T vent mod ( in my case a Y ) into the tube venting the carburetor. The vent tube travels close to the pavement. The super hot pavement somehow kept the carb from breathing steadily. When I ran the extra tube under the seat it never happened again. Bogdan

Year? Miles? Color? Titled? Stolen? Without any of that, I'll start the bidding at $5! --Jonathan "smthng" Kalmes Springfield, VA 2005 Yamaha FJR1300ABS - "Blue Bayou" 2006 Jeep Unlimited Rubicon - "Teflon" 2008 Kawasaki KLR 650 - It's here, but it hasn't earned a name yet. ;) http://smthng.info "If I'd known it was harmless, I would have killed it myself."
