Motocomm makes a nice multiplexor that combines the ability to listen to MP3, radar detector, and then have a VOX activated unit "step" on the other inputs when you are communicating with a chatterbox or other gmrs unit. Very, very, good stuff.

My brother and myself have the same problem.
We want a device, so we can listen to our MP3 players while riding down
the road. If we key up our GMRS radios to talk to each other, the device
would kick out the MP3 player and switch over to the GMRS radios so we
can talk back and forth with the same headphones, and use a throat mic.
I found one such device, it was setup more for Goldwings and an intercom
system between the two riders so they can listen to tunes and chat back
and forth, kinda pricey ($150+) plus the earbuds, throat mic, MP3
player, and radio. We decided to use old school technology (hand signals)
