This topic comes up frequently. Some people have not seen the pic's of the needle bearings completely rusted, or the bolts rusted to the inner races. Sometimes there isn't any rust, and sometimes there is some grease in the bearings. I've seen almost all years of the KLR getting the rear suspension lubed, and IMHO it's a good thing to do. I can send pic's of the rusted bolts to anyone that wants them. I haven't personally opened up a bike that had the needles rusted away, but I have seen the pic's. Here is a site with a how-to for those that wish to install grease fittings. http://members.cox.net/watt-man/Zerk%20Installation.html Remember to loosen the rear lower motor mount bolt when you do the lubing to allow the frame to spread. If there is a centerstand on the bike you will have to remove it also to allow the frame to spread. I'd suggest removing all parts of the linkage so you can see the bearings, lube them, and then lube the bolts too. If you wait too late to do this, it can be a challenge to one's patience when removing the long bolts for the swingarm and uni-trak lever. all the best, Mike
