alternative extra lights

I bought a 2002 KLR a couple of weeks ago. The high beam is ok but the low beam is pathetic. As you all say, it is a small square of light directly in front of the bike. I thought about raising the headlight but then the high wont be right. I thought of adding some cheap driving lights to fill in the low beam pattern which is very dangerous and frightening when I have to dim for an oncoming vehicle. Wal mart seems to have a variety of small lights in sets of two. I am thinking of putting them in the mounts for the front turn signals and switching to some flush mount turn signals. It looks simple to do. I saw a picture of a bike with one driving light mounted on the fairing above the headlight. Is this a good alternative? Will my alternator support a set of small driving lights? I could switch them separately to turn on only one if necessary. What specific lights would you recommend? Also, extra lights are easily added if you really want to see into neighbors' windows at night. But, make sure you do a good job. You wouldn't want your KLR breaking dn like an 08! At which point I stop, because it's clear that at this point your mind is made up and facts are irrelevant. I have used pretty much every light bulb possible in my '02 KLR, including the 90/100 watt ones. *none* of them put out a reasonable pattern of light on the highway compared to *any* motorcycle with a modern headlight design. Comparing my '08 V-Strom 650 (which is similar to the '08 KLR 650 in headline design) to my '02 KLR with *any* bulb is like comparing a flood of useful light on the road with a square of light that shines only on a small part of the road. Arden, Bandit filters are canisters. Apparently when the Frams 'mushed' up they would clog passages, then destroy the engine. FYI. Ed
