Regarding Fram filters: on the Suzuki Bandit site it's been stated that Fram filters 'mush' up and have caused engine failures. FYI. Ed

Are the Bandit filters cartridges or canisters? With a cartridge filter like the KLR uses, at least you can get some idea of quality before sticking it in the bike. The canisters are all mystery shrouded in steel. I cut open a bunch of different filters of the same application several years back and found huge variations in quality. The Frams were by far the worst, with paper end caps and poor gluing of the filter element. I can see why they might turn to mush. Anyone got an idea as to the prob with this bike? E Holy crap! You have to replace a brand new tire? Man that sucks! Did it go flat quickly when you were riding it or was it a slow leak? At least you got my hunk of junk out of the way so you have all the space you'll need! Yup, the ole girl is back to normal! Running like a top! Except for every afternoon when she dies on the side road. She was doing it for about 2 weeks prior to my valves being bent. Feels like it's running out of gas. Funny thing is it only does it in the afternoon when it's hot out. I made it to work this and every morning absolutely no problem at all. After sitting in the sun all day and then trying to ride home in 80 degree heat she calves, I wait a few minutes can start her back up and she will most of the time run fine the rest of the way home. I don't think its junk in the carb as it would probably die in the morning to. I think my vacuum line on the petcock is bad and when it gets hot isn't sealing right or has a hole in it. That's the line that I lost the stupid little wire clamp off of. I'm going to stop at Blake's tonight and get a couple of mini hose clamps. Hopefully that will solve the problem if not it's back to the drawing board. All in all she's running great no vibration, quiet, little more power and I'm sure I'm getting better gas mileage.
