My sidestand switch works (tested it with a meter), but the engine continues running if I put go into gear from nuetral. I could even let the let the clutch out and drive away. Not good. What other parts should I be looking at to repair this? Any ideas? David

<><><><><><><><><> <><><><><><><><><> David, Can you provide a bit more information? Year of bike? Are you the original owner? Might someone have disabled the system before you bought the bike? Other mods that might affect the situation? I'd check the wiring to the sidestand switch, and check the cable that runs between the sidestand and the switch. I just go my left over 07 a month or so ago. I can start the thing with the kickstand down and it will continue to run with the stand put down. I thought it was supposed not to run with the stand down at all but she will. --- In DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com, "Chris Norloff" wrote:

It's supposed to run with the sidestand down only if the transmission is in neutral..If the transmission is shifted into gear with the sidestand down, the engine is supposed to die. Mike Martin, Louisville, KY

Can't swear to it but I think I tried it once with the thing in gear and the clutch in and it started. I never tried it in gear with the stand down and the clutch out.

<><><><><><><><><><> <><><><><><><><><><> Mike, My side stand switch has been by-pass for a few years. But I thought it didn't shut the engine off until you let the clutch out a small amount. You're probably right, Jeff. I'm on a trip to Colorado on my ST1100, now, and will check the KLR when I get home. The operation I described does apply to the ST, because I sometimes kill the engine by lowering the sidestand. Sorry if I mislead y'all. Mike Martin, Louisville, KY

Both. On the left the plastic thing that holds the flasher arm in its socket broke. On the right the rubber flasher arm cracked presumably due to vibration.
