the carb, slide diaphram in particular as it is got some years on it, does the Air Cut-Off Valve diphram come in a carb rebuild kit?

I have tried for years to find a "carb rebuild kit" no one even seems willing to put one together if you ask. Let me know if you find a good complete rebuild kit. Joe

In 11 years of KLR ownership (and my fleet has included some ancient, well-loved KLRs), I have yet found the need to rebuild a carb. Aside from having one carb that had a shot throttle plate (tons of play but the bike still ran fine) the only part I have ever *had* to replace was a deceleration diaphragm/plunger. Although several people have had mishaps with them, even the slide diaphragm is generally reliable for decades. So basically, only replace trouble parts as needed. Popping on decel is no biggie if the bike is otherwise running fine. First try the pilot screw adjustment that Dooden mentioned. Also, make sure your exhaust connections are tight and leak-free. A KLR is *supposed* to look battered. A KLR that looks all shiny and s**t is almost heresy. I mean, what next, you want to *wash* the beast?! (Mine is still proudly carrying around Death Valley sand and gravel from last year, heh!). _E
