Yes, this is the same bike I am trying to rent out. Heres how it has played out so far. Got gas at an old gas station, 50 miles later while idling, it died, but started right back up. A few hundred miles later it would not idle (it stays above 3k fine but below that it simply dies like you shut it off,) so I suspected bad gas, drained tank, float bowl, and added seafoam. But it still would not start. I kept draining bowl, (It kept not starting) and at one point I blew into the three tubes coming off the carb, and then it fired up and ran fine for two days, now the same thing is happening. Its like it is degrading. It died, but fired right back up, I rode about 50 miles it died and wont start. (I am positive though if I had it on a steep hill I could get it started by bumping it in second, or at least this worked before.) I am flat broke (single Dad) and really wish someone could come of with an easy and logical solution. What is the white tube coming off the carb (off white with black stripes?) When I blew on that one it was like I dislodged something? This tube leads from the carb to a metal device above the radiator reserve? This damn bike has left me stranded 11 times now, I am at the end of my rope! [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

If you were in San Diego I could diagnose easier.... The line you describe going from the carb to the device by the overflow bottle is a vacuum line.That line needs to stay connected, or plugged. Have you checked the valve clearance yet? I know the manual says not needed until 16K miles, but that is an error IMHO. My 2008 had a tight valve before 900 miles. Some 2008's have had issues with the KACR, and the dealer was intructed to grind .020 inch, or .5mm, off the actuating pin. teh idle mixture and/or enricher might need adjusting. The enricher adjuster is now hidden under the tank, not as friendly as before. The idle mixture screw is hidden under an aluminum plug at the bottom front of the carb. Where do you live? My Concours got water in the tank and it acted the same way. I had to dump the whole tank and start fresh. An old gas station might have water in the gas. Robert Hedrick Albuquerque, NM

That would be my guess too, because I never even *put* the bike on the center stand when I change the oil. That's because one part of my oil change procedure is to stand the bike upright then slowly tilt it to the right a little to let oil trapped in the left side of things drain rightwards, then tilt it slowly back to the left to let that oil finish swirling down the drain plug. That's the way I've done it for 30 years now, centerstand or no centerstand, and I don't see any reason to do it any different.
