It's too bad that I had to straighten them to get enough tension off the spring to tap the retainers out. Look at the head pic with them still installed. I was surprised by how malleable the things were. They bent back with some pretty light blows. E

pre 08 front brake reservoir cover bolts

Post by Jeff Saline » Mon Jul 14, 2008 9:38 pm

Listers, Just thought I'd send a reminder to folks that if they haven't changed their brake fluid yet this year now might be a good time. I changed mine an hour ago and found the bolts on the front brake reservoir cover pretty darn tight. I know I used anti-seize last time I changed the fluid. I had a heck of a time getting one cover bolt out and buggered the head removing it. Replacement info for those that might find it handy is: flat head bolt. 4mm diameter 0.70 pitch 10mm long I got replacements at an ACE hardware and got the ones that use an allen wrench instead of a phillips screwdriver. I again used anti-seize during the installation.
