neutral light

Howdy,
I'm thinking I must be a lousy lurker and missed the thread regarding this issue, but I have an irritating neutral light. The problem occurs when the bike doesn't receive the electrical signal that it is in neutral and therefore a safety mechanism(aren't motorcycles all about accepting risk?!) prevents the bike from starting. The fix seems to be simple enough and requires removing the countershaft cover and making a connection with the green wire and the metal peg that pokes out of the transmission case. I would like to make this contact more permanent than it is without having the wire permanently attached. Any ideas?

Jim,
Go to the FAQs (or Mike's KLR site) and REMOVE the clutch and neutral safeties entirely.
Otherwise they'll strand you somewhere (like out in the woods at dark)...!

[fixed] throttle lubricant

Thanks to everyone for your time and consideration. I took the throttle
assembly off the handlebar. I put some WD-40 on the parts that had the
cables on them. I put fork oil between the handlebar and the grip. Got
everything back together, and seems like it is all working the way it
should. Not as painful as I thought it would be. Thanks for the
thoughts and suggestions. I just didn't want to harm the bike by doing
something wrong. Well, I guess that already happened when I dropped it
on the left side. I had to put the fan back together with jb weld and
re-attach the left plastic with an L-bracket. The radiator was fine,
fortunately.
