tried dyna-beads tire balancer?

Listers,
A guy stopped in to visit for a couple of days riding a K1200GT. He left
this morning at 7 am and he and his buddies adjusted tire pressures right
before leaving. He's using the Dyna Beads and showed me a sample of them
the other night. I've got to tell you I was surprised how small they
are. I've read about them a few times but don't recall anyone telling me
they are smaller than 1/32" in diameter. I didn't measure them but they
looked that small in the package he showed me. He mentioned he was told
they are the same size as #12 shot.
When he removed his valve cap to check his air pressure he commented on
he could feel air releasing from the valve. I mentioned I'd just read
that you were suppose to add air before checking the pressure to move the
beads away from the valve core. He said something about using the longer
"filtered"??? valve core. Anyway, he added just a touch of air and then
checked his pressure. The tire was down about 11 psi. He topped it off
and it didn't seem to be leaking.
I wonder if the replacement valve core spring is weaker than some stock
valve core springs. When used on higher speed bikes maybe at higher
speeds the valve core opens just a tad and then a bead can get stuck
causing a leak. It makes sense to me but I've got no more experience
than a few threads about the beads and this bike.
As a side note... a 1980 Yamaha XS650 Special uses the same battery as a
KLR.
