where did "farkle" come from?

Post by C&W Burner » Sun Jun 01, 2008 4:38 am

Now I get it, there is a big difference between farkle and bling. There are this that look cool....and things that look cool and have a purpose on the bike. I need to put a rear rack on my 1986 KL 600, so that I can bring the lunch cooler and uniforms to work . Does anyone have one sitting around they would like to sell me, so that I may add a little farkle to my ride? Aint no bling....on this thing ! 2008 - impressed - especially the motor

Hey guys, just my two cents worth here. I do love my A16. I have set it up for performing off road. - IMS pegs, pregressive springs, heavier fork oil, rear suspension pre load on high, knobbies, etc. I pop it in my truck regularly and use it up north - sometimes in the woods. My buddy dropped by yesterday with a 2008 and let me drive it a little. Now we stayed on the blacktop between town and my house, so it was not a comprehensive comparison. But I have to say that Kawasaki did a great job of updating that bike. Previously, I had the impression that is was the same old bike with new plastic and some minor engine updates. First off I love the new faring. the looks make be drool. the other trim updates are excellent too- the rear rack for example as well as the blinkers. It really does look sportbikeish. I like the wind protection it provides, just enough for my liking. But what really suprized me was the engine. It seemed quieter and more liinear in power delivery. Perhaps a little less raw and maybe slightly less peak power. but I would call it refined. Blatantly refined, and this is what impressed me most. I never would have guessed I would be writing about the KLR engine (after having to different ones in my garage for the last 13 years. )as being refined. My buddy drove my A16 home and remarked how the old style was lighter. I really did not notice much difference. Clearly the forks are set up soft, and I wondered if Progressive has springs for these new forks. The new forks seem to really give a nice stable feel, better than the old ones. (maybe the new bike effect) even if the springs are soft. anyhow this is a different bike. More streety perhaps. Too pretty to drive out to my deer stand perhaps. For those who have not driven one, dont dismiss this as just new looks. It is less dirt bikeish, But for what many people use it for, a really sweet bike. I want one. It can sit right next to my A16. todd in Chaska MN A16 2006 700 efi
