I like the idea of replacing the speedo/tach with a more compact unit, although I'm not sure what units are available that use a mechanical cable/gear sensor... Last time I looked for a solution like that was in my Seca days. I'm sure there is smthng available. Using the GPS is questionable at best for a street unit. A lot of states have all sorts of clauses about "permanent and unalterable" requirements for speedo and odometer. Technically, it would work, but there mind be some legal issues.

The other problem I can see is that you're starting to add a fair amount of weight above or in front of the front axle and the steering head. This can cause some funky handling issues. Of course, my '08 is still on a truck somewhere trying to find me, so this is all just conjecture and past experience on my part. ;) --Jonathan "smthng" Kalmes Springfield, VA 2005 Yamaha FJR1300ABS - "Blue Bayou" 2006 Jeep Unlimited Rubicon - "Teflon" 2008 Kawasaki KLR 650 - "?"
