fs: storm (think pelican) top box fitted for the klr

Post by John Thompson » Mon Apr 14, 2008 9:11 pm

Folks, * 2 year old Storm box (like pelican...tough as nails ) * Custom fit to an OEM KLR rear rack (2004, but I believe you can go from way back in years to 2007 & its the same rack - but do your research first to make sure) * 6 threaded bolts fit right into the factory holes & then I have nylock(sp?) nuts on the buttom * Aluminum flat bars spread out the pressure & there are hypalon-like strips under that to keep water out & protect the box from wearing against the flat bars - pretty clean install! * It is a very tight & secure fit... I bet you rip the rack off before that seat comes off * I had to trim my seat about 2-3" in order to create easier seat removal - I took a few pictures to help illustate the point. If you have no reason to remove your seat - nevermind. * Locking hinges on the front - I found some smaller locks that fit well at the local hardware store (not included), but should be easy to replace * I installed an internal bungie net (not included) - the screws used around the perimeter do not go all the way through the lid wall * Color is yellow, 2 stickers (they're free) * Box is 100% functional - no cracks, leaks, repairs of any kind * The website link is: http://cases4less.com/detail_storm_2400.html * The website shows these dimensions: Inside Dimensions (L,W, D): 18.0 x 13.0 x 6.7 Outside Dimensions (L,W,D): 19.2 x 15.2 x 7.3 It does hold quite a bit as I have gotten the following in there at once: set of raingear, tools, qt of oil, first aid, bivy, MSR fuel bottle, water bottle, frisbee, spare microfleece and I bet I'm forgettin' some things! I paid $86.10 2 years ago & they are still the same price now. Not sure what's fair... it's used, but great shape... drilled for a very nice custom fit to a KLR... but I've heard of folks sealing the holes to use as a side-mount pannier box. How about $60 shipped in the conus or $50 if you pick it up locally in Ft Collins. I have several more pictures - email me & I will respond.
