Most camping areas are fine with pets as long as they are on a leash. You might check with the National Parks what they allow in Arches NP and Canyonlands NP. If your kids come with matches, maybe you should have a couple more leashes. ;-) See you soon, I'll have the Holy Water ready. I'm a day late and a dollar short again. Staying with family in CO and planning a trip to the Moab area. We were going to head down this weekend but there's supposed to be 10"-18" new snow between today and tomorrow. Are any of the camping areas near Moab dog friendly? The whole family of inlaws wants to go and that will include 4 dogs, 2 kids, and 7 "grown-ups". thanks, da Vermonster no matter what, me and my KLR will make it out to be blessed by Fred before I head back to my East Coast home. wolfman rear luggage for sale

Listers, I've got for sale an experienced Wolfman Alfa Rear Bag, Alfa-Beta Duffel and a rain cover for both. Allow me to tell you the story behind these items. I bought my KLR650 in fall of 2003. A few friends and I decided to ride the Great Divide Ride (GDR) from Canada to Mexico in the summer of 2004. I needed luggage. At the time Wolfman was considered by many to be a top luggage system for the KLR650. I bought the Alfa Rear Bag and the Alfa-Beta Duffel and the rain cover for this trip. The first time I loaded them was the night before we left. They hold a lot of stuff. I mean if you load them full you're probably bringing too much stuff along. If you don't load them full they kind of sag and get floppy. These bags are not waterproof, that's why they have a rain cover. But the cover is really for the bags if you only arrange them the way Wolfman designed them. That's with the Alfa Rear Bag on the back of the seat and the Beta Duffel on the rear of the rear bag. I carried a tent and sleeping bag too so it was a bit more of a challenge to use the rain cover. The good news is it only rained on us about 1/2 the trip. : ) With the bags behind the rider they don't get too wet unless you stop in the open. I had my stuff in plastic bags so it stayed dry even when the Wolfman bags got wet. The bags did stay on the bike and the strapping system once figured out worked ok. Notice I'm not using words like great, or fantastic or best on the planet. These in my opinion are just ok. In about the middle of the trip just outside of Del Norte, Colorado I highsided on asphalt. The left side of the bike was the side sliding on the asphalt. The Alfa Rear Bag left pocket got torn/worn. I was able to continue the ride and used the luggage for another 2,500 or so miles. When I got home I unloaded the bike, put the luggage in a box and forgot about it, until today. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. The next year I switched to using Ortlieb Dry Saddlebags with a waterproof duffel bag. I like this combination better as for my kind of riding/touring on the KLR it's easier/mo better for me. The Ortliebs are waterproof and easy to install and remove. Loading is easy and stuff can be put in one side or the other. If they aren't full they still work great. They also help keep the center of gravity a bit lower. Let's see, what do I really like about the Wolfman Alfa Rear Bag and Alfa-Beta Duffel and rain cover I have for sale. Hmmmm... I've got great memories from a wonderful trip using them. They held everything I needed and more. Once installed they stayed in place. Other than that I guess they are better than grocery bags bungee corded to the back of the bike. : ) I'd like to sell the Alfa Rear Bag, Alfa-Beta Duffel and rain cover. I'm never gonna use them and would like them to help someone else get into a good trip with luggage for well less than the cost of new. On the Alfa Rear Bag the left pocket zipper still works but the pocket needs to be repaired to keep the ants out of it. I think a person that was kind of handy with a sewing machine could easily repair it. I know I could but I don't want to spend any time on this. This gear still carries the dust and dirt from over 5,200 miles of the GDR. That's how you'll get it if you're the lucky new owner. The rain cover looks just about like new although I did use it a few times. The Alfa-Beta Duffel is a little dirty but in very nice shape. I think a good washing will have it looking like new. The Alfa Rear Bag is filthy and the left pocket material is torn and worn near the top front. I think it will clean up very nicely if washed and the repair (patches) will make it like new. The zipper works well. If you want to see what these products look like you can follow the links below. I couldn't find any reference to the rain cover but four years ago it was available. Wolfman KLR Products http://www.wolfmanluggage.com/BikeType/klr.html Alfa Rear Bag Info http://www.wolfmanluggage.com/Enduro/AlfaRearBag.html Alfa-Beta Duffel Info http://www.wolfmanluggage.com/Enduro/AlfaDuffel.html I'm not interested in selling these separately so it's an all or nothing deal. I have pictures of the actual bags which show the worn/torn spots and filthy condition. I'll only send them to folks that ask for them and are in the running for a chance at purchasing. My suggestion is to not buy this gear and instead get the Ortlieb Dry Saddlebags http://www.aerostich.com/catalog/US/DryBag-Saddlebags-p-16156.html and a waterproof duffel http://www.aerostich.com/catalog/US/Dry-Bag-Duffel-Bags-p-17175.html . That'll cost a bit more than twice what I'm asking plus the cost of side racks and it will be money well spent. But if you want to get this gear I'll send it to you for $115. If you want to pay with Pay Pal I'd like $118.50 to cover my Pay Pal costs. If you are out of the lower 48 let me know and I'll figure out the cost of shipping and adjust the price accordingly. This is a first come first served offering. I only have the one set of bags for sale so first person saying they'll buy gets them. I believe I've accurately described the gear so there is no return or refund on this. I want to get rid of them. If you want to haggle about the price make an offer. I won't consider offers for a few days as I believe this is a fair price for this gear in this condition. I didn't see any snakes, spiders or scorpions when I packed the bags a few minutes ago but if I missed one you can keep it. : ) I've got the gear stuffed into a box that is about 9x9x9 inches. It's used gear and that's how I'm treating it. You may contact me at: salinej1@... . Thanks for your consideration. wolfman rear luggage for sale

Jeff, You sound like you like the Ortlieb. How much of their stuff do you have, and can you give more detailed opinions on it? Last year I spent a bunch on Wolfman stuff, and I'm not impressed. The tank bags are much smaller than they looked on the web site (only hold very small items, such as a pair of winter gloves in 1 bag); and not waterproof. I have the tank bag, which is very handy and fit decently, but isn't waterproof (very annoying on trips), tool bag (can't find a place to mount it...won't hold to the fender like it should, keeps falling off), and another small bag that won't stay mounted. I'm not a patient person, so it won't be long before this stuff is yanked on favor of something else. I'll use it for this season, since I pretty well spent my upgrade budget already, but next year I want something better. Jim
